What is Maritime Expert Solutions?

Maritime Expert Solutions is an online maritime training platform delivering IMO-aligned courses, including the mandatory STCW Basic Training, to individual seafarers. Our courses include interactive lessons, videos, reading, and automated quizzes, and issue a certificate of completion when you pass.

Who are the courses for?

Our courses are designed for seafarers at all stages of their careers — deck and engine-room ratings, officers in training, yacht and cruise crew, offshore workers, and anyone needing recognised maritime safety training. Each course lists its target audience and prerequisites in the catalogue.

Do I need any prior experience to take a course?

Most of our short courses assume no prior experience and are suitable for new entrants to the maritime industry. Some advanced courses build on basic knowledge; any prerequisites are stated in the course description. You can take courses in any order unless a prerequisite is specified.

How long do I have access to a course?

Once you purchase a course, you have lifetime access to its content through your account. You can study at your own pace and revisit the lessons and quizzes as often as you like.

How long does each course take to complete?

Course durations are shown in the catalogue. Most of our specialist courses are 1–2 hours long, while the full STCW Basic Training course is longer. The stated duration is a guide; your actual time will vary with your pace and prior knowledge.

How is the course assessed?

Each module ends with a knowledge-check quiz. You must achieve the passing score (shown on the course page, typically 70%) to complete the module. You can retake a quiz if you do not pass on the first attempt. When you pass all modules in a course, a certificate of completion is issued automatically.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. When you pass all modules in a course, a certificate of completion is generated and added to your dashboard. You can download it, and it can be verified through the Verify Certificate page on our website using the certificate number.

Are the certificates recognised by maritime authorities?

Our certificates record completion of the online training aligned with the IMO STCW Code and other applicable standards. They do not replace a statutory Certificate of Competency issued by a flag state. You should confirm with your employer or flag state whether our courses meet the specific requirements you need to fulfil.

How do I pay for a course?

You can add one or more courses to your cart and check out securely through our payment provider. We accept major cards. The price is confirmed at checkout, and course access is granted automatically once payment is confirmed.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In summary, if you have not commenced a course (opened no lessons or quizzes), you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase. Once you have commenced a course, it is generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where the content is defective.

Can I use a coupon code?

Yes. If you have a valid coupon code, you can enter it at checkout to apply the discount. Coupon codes have their own terms (expiry, course restrictions, and usage limits) and are validated at the time of use.

Can I buy multiple courses at once?

Yes. Add as many courses as you like to your cart and check out once. All purchased courses appear on your dashboard and are enrolled automatically after payment.

The platform works on modern desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and smartphones through your web browser. For the best experience with videos and quizzes, use a current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.

What is the Seaman Book service?

We assist seafarers with applications for Seaman Books (Continuous Record of Service documents) for certain jurisdictions, such as St. Kitts & Nevis. You can find information and an online application form on the Seaman Book pages of our website.

How do I apply for a Seaman Book?

Visit the Seaman Book page for your jurisdiction, review the requirements, and complete the online application form. You will need to upload the required certificates and documents and accept the Terms & Conditions. Our team reviews the application and submits it to the relevant authority.

Is my data secure?
